Don't you wish your shota was hot like me?
Ruby is from the series Pokemon Special, and is played by Seve, currently being the youngest in his roster. Ruby is one of the leads of the fourth major story arc, the Ruby/Sapphire arc, in which he and Sapphire fight against the villainous Team Aqua and Magma as they try to expand the ocean and land respectively, using evil word destroying Pokemon of legend. Oh yeah, and there was a bet. But we'll get to this later.

RUBY

Full Name: Ruby... yeah, just Ruby.
Age: 11
Birthday: July 2nd
Class: Coordinator/Trainer
Other: Ruby's eyes are myopic, meaning he needs glasses to see. Unfortunately, most of the time his vanity prevents him from wearing them. He also carries around making up and sewing kits, cameras, albums, and other various Pokeworld things and items; including a Pokedex, Pokegear, Pokenav, Pokeblock Case, Contest Pass, and Marge's memory fire lighter. His shoes are special air powered shoes created by the Devon Corporation that allow him to run at extremely high speeds.
Personality:
Ruby is a selfish and vain punk of a kid who cares about nothing but looks and fashion. ... or rather, he was at first. As time passed, the situation became more dire, and things got clearer in Ruby's head; he eventually becomes able to push (most of) his vanity to the side in order to do the right thing. Of course, that's not until after he runs off and loses one of his Pokemon thanks to his vanity. By the time he's saved the world, though, he's not completely afraid to show his battle skills (which he has in spades), and all of that. ... but he still loves beautiful things more, and strives towards his goal of beauty anyway.

RUBY'S POKEMON

Ruby and his Pokemon.
Ruby and his Pokemon.
  • Zuzu

Zuzu is Ruby's Swampert, and was his "starter" Pokemon, which he... "recieved" from Professor Birch after they encountered some wild Mightyena. Zuzu represents the Toughness segment of Ruby's contest team. Originally, Ruby didn't quite care for having Zuzu on his team. His nose was constantly running, and he wasn't quite contest material. Throughout their adventures together, though, they developed a close bond, and he helped Ruby appreciate his Pokemon much more than he did in tbe beginning.

  • Nana

Nana, a Mightyena, is one of Ruby's first three Pokemon, given to him by his father, Norman. Nana is one of Ruby's more battle-ready fighters (compared to, say, Ruru and Coco), though frankly his whole team could unleash a can of whoop ass if he let them. Nana represents the Coolness segment of Ruby's contest team.

  • Coco

Coco, a Delcatty, is one of Ruby's first three Pokemon, given to him by his father, Norman. Coco represents the Cuteness segment of Ruby's contest team.

  • Popo

Popo, a Castform, was given to Ruby by two reporters he traveled with, who had been given that by the head of the Devon Corporation; after seeing how well the Pokemon and Coordinator got along. Popo represents the Inteligence segment of Ruby's contest team, which had been formerly Ruru's role - though her ending up with Wally put a halt to that.

  • Mimi

Mimi is Ruby's Milotic, and one of the most important members of Ruby's team - it was Mimi that taught Ruby a very important lesson. Originally, Ruby caught Mimi by chance - trying to help a fisherman find a Feebas. He eventually took the Feebas with him, despite the fact he found it ugly and smelly determined to show that if he could make an ugly Pokemon like that beautiful, he could make ANYTHING beautiful. Mimi, obviously, is also the representative of the Beauty segment of Ruby's contest team.

  • Ruru

Ruru, a Kirlia, is one of Ruby's first three Pokemon, given to him by his father, Norman. It is very likely that Ruru was going to be the Inteligence member of Ruby's contest team, but due to ending up with Wally for the majority of the arc, Popo took on that role.

BACKGROUND

Childhood memories Ruby would never forget.
Childhood memories Ruby would never forget.
Once upon a time there was a little boy who loved adventure, fighting, and all kinds of things that little boys tend to love. And lucky for him, he was born in a world where everyone who was anyone went out on adventures with their Pokemon companions to battle other trainers, among other things. And this boy, being the son of a Gym Leader, was a brilliant strategist and a powerful opponent, even at a young age.

And then he met a really adorable little girl one day, and after a monster attacked them (he saved her!) and gave him scars he'd have for the rest of his life, he realized fighting was bad and ugly and he shouldn't do it anymore. So he grew up gay and make his Pokemon dress up in dresses so they could all be pretty and witty and gay. The end.

... okay not really. Though it is kind of close.

Fabulous Fights

After a wild Pokemon attacked the two children, seeing the sweet girl cry made him believe that the battling had truly scared her, that he tainted her sweet and kind heart; and that that was unforgivable. It was then that he decided that from then on he must hold his strength back (and boy does he have a lot of it) at all costs. Since then, he's strived to make his Pokemon beautiful for contests and whatnot, thinking all forms of battle to be ugly and wrong; and thus he went from an adventurous little tyke to a selfish and vain punk.

Life in the urban Johto Region was a blast, too, but then his mother decided it was time to move to... Hoenn. Which of course, did have it's perks. There, Ruby would be able to enter Pokemon Contests, much to his father's displeasure. Deciding to defy his father, Ruby took his Pokemon and ran away in order to go to the contests and win them himself.

... Of course, it just so happened that his father was going to tell him that very same day he would be allowed to do the contests anyway, so. Cue him running into a wild anima-- er, a jungle monste-- er, a girl named Sapphire, a misunderstanding, a lover's quarrel argument and a bet to see who can acheive their goal in 80 days, and you have the beginning of Ruby's adventure!

Unfortunately, the bet eventually had to be put off when the evil teams, Team Magma and Team Aqua, started their places to expand the earth and sea respectively, by reviving the ancient Pokemon Groudon and Kyogre. Which ultimately lead to the screwing over of the entire landscape and endless destruction, among other things. Ruby, however, chose to ignore this at first, instead hiding his strength as best he could and following his contest dream, eventually leading him to the Gym Leader, Wallace, taking him as his apprentice - and landing himself at a meeting of Gym Leaders, where the region's strongest were trying to figure out the way to solve the problem.

From Zero to Hero
Enter the amazing Ruby!
Enter the amazing Ruby!
Ruby, of course, just ignored the world crisis in the hopes of being trained by Wallace for contests. Instead, in saving Sapphire from a herd of wild Pokemon and revealing his secret, he ended up running away in shame of being nothing more than a nuisance to the real heroes. After "losing" the next contest to his Master, Ruby, in an fury; yells at his Feebas, Mimi, for being ugly and not worth his time. The heartbroken Pokemon runs away, and it's only when it's too late that Ruby realizes what he's done. Ruby, crushed and finally realizing his vanity is too much, desperately looks for Mimi, but does not find her.

Not long after, Ruby realizes that the key to stopping the crisis is right under everyone's noses... but he's the only that knows it. With that in mind, he rushes off - after sewing himself and Sapphire some brand spankin' new outfits of course - to lend a hand in saving the world. And he did, too, lend a hand that is. The leaders of Team Magma and Aqua were stopped... but the Pokemon were still rampaging, and the jewels that were being used to control the Pokemon had put themselves inside Ruby and Sapphire.

Although they went through special training (and bonding!!) to control the jewels, after Sapphire revealed to Ruby that she liked him - and that she was the little girl from Ruby's past (not that she knew Ruby was the boy from then) - Ruby, at the last second, pushed her away after taking the jewel from her, to protect her from it. And thus, the final battle... against the Pokemon. With the Hoenn Region's Pokemon Champion, Steven Stone summoning the three legendary Regi; and Ruby's own father bringing the lord of the sky, Rayquaza, Ruby was able to stop the monsters... at the cost of Steven and his father's lives.

This was no time to bawww, however, because the leaders of Team Aqua and Magma decided they weren't done just yet. Having killed Marge in the process of reviving themvelves, they even used hostages in order to prevent being attacked! All hope seemed lost... and then... Mimi came back. The weak Pokemon attacked the men, and was beaten by them, and called names. In this moment, Ruby finally realized that it doesn't matter what you look like - it's the heart that counts. Believing Mimi to be dead, he is given a ribbon by Wallace to give to her. And as he does so, she evolves into Milotic!

Feeling revived and ready for action, Ruby and Sapphire team up against the two evil men, defeating them and saving the day... except not. They took the jewels and ran, in the hopes of trying again someday. And it seemed like, for sure, they were going to get away. But then Ruby unveiled a secret weapon that no one but him knew he even had - Celebi. The time traveling Pokemon took and destroyed the jewels, and even dropped Ruby and Sapphire off in an alternate future where no one died.

And so, the day was saved... thanks to Ruby and Sapphire!

FRIENDS AND FOES

CANON
SPOILERS: Ruby is straight!
SPOILERS: Ruby is straight!
  • Sapphire (APP HER FOR ~*~TRUE LOVE~*~)

Aaaah Sapphire. Unknown to Ruby in the beginning, she was the crush of his childhood, the sweet girl that changed him forever. No, instead, she was the monster-slash-cavegirl that attacked him in a cave!! They became rivals, thanks to their bet and all, though come their next meetings they got more and more along with eachother, the RABU RABU getting a little more obvious as time went on - eventually leading to confessions and life saving sacrificial shonenism. In short, Sapphire is a cavegirl, an uneducated brute, a rival, a girl, and Ruby's since-childhood love. ... Though he doesn't like talking about it and may even be pretending it didn't happen ssssshhhh.

  • Norman (APP HIM FOR EPIC FATHER-SON BATTLES)

Norman is Ruby's father, and therefore you would expect a super fabulous guy to get along great with his not super fabulous son, right? Well GUESS WHAT you are WRONG. To say Ruby and Norman have a strained relationship for the majority of the arc would be putting it pretty damn lightly, frankly. Though they made up in the end... mostly. But come on, does "Norman holding Ruby by the throat atop a tall building" sound like good bonding time or what?

  • Wally (APP HIM FOR GAY TIME)

Wally was one of the first people Ruby met on his adventure - as well as one he took a liking to like lightning. They became friends, and Ruby even helped Wally capture his first Pokemon. Through certain hijinks, though, Wally ended up with Ruby's Kirlia, Ruru, for the majority of the arc. Ruby and Wally didn't really get to interact a lot, but that doesn't change the fact that Ruby really cares about the guy - he could even be BFF material if he ever came to the island!

  • Marge (APP HER FOR PEDO TIME)

At first, Marge was just a member of the infamous Team Magma - a villain and someone Ruby really didn't like at all. She did kind of try to kill him/molest him/recruit him after all. But later on, as shit hit the fan, Ruby grew up some, and frankly, things were looking bleak - Marge and Ruby met and bonded some, albeit through odd (and literally life threatening) circumstances. As far as Ruby is concerned, at least as of the end of the arc, Marge is one of his closest friends.

  • Wallace (APP HIM FOR MASTER-DISCIPLE FAGGOTRY TIME)

When they first met, Ruby saw Wallace as a rival - someone he needed to prove he was better than. That changed fast, however, when Ruby was dominated by the man in an unofficial Pokemon Contest in the street. As soon as he realized how beautiful Wallace was, he DEMANDED that the man take him on as his disciple. At first, Wallace didn't want him, but after seeing Ruby's skills in battle, he changed his mind. Since they, Ruby and Wallace developed your average fabulous Pokemon trainer master and disciple relationship, stuff like that.

OF THE ISLAND

GOD WHAT IS WRONG WITH HER. Utau is like...

SHE'S LIKE A PERSON YOU CAN DRESS UP AND STUFF INTO A BACKPACK AND TAKE WITH YOU ON ADVENTURES. ... I mean.

Ruby thinks Joshua is a pretty cool guy...! Definetely a possible friend, though they need to talk more often.

GAY BUDDY *__________*-- I mean what. But yeah, Yuuta would probably be dubbed as Ruby's first island friend (not like he had a lot of those back home though so lol)
